Carol Bartz, Autodesk, Incorporated

Carol Bartz is chairman of the board, president, and CEO of Autodesk, Inc., the world's leading supplier of design software and the biggest PC software company in the world. Since Bartz took the helm in 1992, the company has diversified its product line and grown revenues from $285 million to more than $936 million in FY0I. Bartz previously held positions at Sun Microsystems, most recently serving as vice president of worldwide field operations and an executive officer of the company. Before joining Sun, she held product line and sales management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and 3M Corporation.

Bartz holds an honors degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin. She was granted an honorary Doctor of Science degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from William Woods University. In addition, she was honored with the 1994 Donald C. Burnham Manufacturing Management Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and with a Horatio Alger award in 2000. Bartz serves on the boards of several other organizations including BEA Systems, Cisco Systems, Network Appliances, TechNet, VA Linux, and the Foundation for the National Medals of Science and Technology. She is also honored in the Women in Technology International (WITI) Hall of Fame.
