Maria Consuelo Araujo Castro, Colombian Culture Minister
María Consuelo Araújo is the Minister of Culture for Colombia. Previously, she was was the José Celestino Mutis Botanical Garden’s director, where she promoted Bogota’s forestation. She also worked as foreign trade adviser for Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, and was communications and special manager of housing for the Agrarian, Industrial and Miner Credit Fund.
Born in Cesar province Araujo studied Finance and International Relations at Externado University of Colombia, she made a specialization in Government, Management and Public Affaires at Columbia University in New York, in International Relations at the University of Milan Italy, and studied French at the Sorbona University. She was member of the Board of Directors of Bogota’s Aqueduct and Sewer Enterprise, National Network of Botanical Gardens, from the Recreational and Sportive Local Institute –IDRD-, from Capital Channel and from the Local Institute for the Childhood Protection IDIPRON.
