Joichi Ito is the president and founder of Neoteny. Joichi is a
leading Internet visionary and entrepreneur in Japan, recognized in
1997 by Time Magazine as a member of the "Cyber Elite", one of
the world’s 50 most influential people in technology. Joichi began his work with the Internet in the early 1980's and was one of the first people in Japan to explore the use of computers as a communications medium.
Joichi was the original founder of Yahoo! Japan. He later
established Infoseek Japan, K.K. and currently serves as the
company's Director and Chairman. Joichi has also founded six other companies, including Eccosys (1994), which he later merged with Digital Garage (1995). Digital
Garage is one of the first one-stop service providers for companies
in Japan that want to do business online. He was also the President
of PSINet K.K. (Japan), the Japanese subsidiary of one of the
